Selecting Healthy Treats for Your Pets

Everyone loves to spoil their pets. And one way to do this is to provide them with tasty treats. Treats can be an important part of a dog’s diet. They serve as excellent training rewards, reinforcing positive behavior. And of course, giving your pet a treat is just one more way to show how much you love and appreciate their companionship.

But when selecting treats, you need to exercise a little discernment. Just as there is an abundance of unhealthy human food on the market, there are also treats that are not healthy for your pet.

Before purchasing a treat, be sure to read the label. Avoid treats that are full of chemicals, additives or sugar. Treats should provide your pet with some sort of nutritional value. Try to find treats that are made with whole, all-natural ingredients. Also, look for treats that are high in protein and contain either chicken, beef or lamb. Dogs are carnivores by nature and have high protein requirements. So it is best to feed treats that fill this nutritional need.

Table Scraps?
Avoid feeding your dog too many table scraps. While you may think it is a delightful bonding experience for Fido to share your dinner, there are some downsides. Excessive amounts of table scraps can lead to obesity and digestive problems. If your dog becomes accustomed to people food, he may avoid eating his own dinner. This can lead to a nutritional deficiency as the dietary needs of dogs and humans are different.

Remember, the best way to reward your pets is to select healthy, nutrient-dense treats that nourish their body and keep them functioning at their best.

There are several healthy treats on the market that will not only provide your pet with a delectable snack, but will also contribute to their physical wellbeing. Stew Sticks, offered by Mulligan Stew Pet Food are an excellent choice for dogs of all different breeds and ages. These treats are designed with your dog’s health in mind. Comprised of carefully selected whole foods and vitamins, these treats go to work in your pet’s body to help nourish and revitalize cells. Stew Sticks are available in a beef and chicken formula. They are packed with protein which helps build muscle tone. They also provide a healthy burst of energy and make a great midday snack.

A Special Process
In addition to being full of nutrients, Mulligan’s Stew Sticks are manufactured using a unique, cold-extrusion process. The ingredients are cooked at 180 degrees. This low temperature preserves the essential amino acids and beneficial enzymes found in the food, while ensuring that all contaminants and bacteria are destroyed.

When you feed your dog Mulligan’s Stew Sticks, you can feel great about giving your pet a treat!
